Often it can be easy to think that what comes naturally for you comes naturally for other people, but this is not true. You show up everyday with a unique combination of abilities in everything you do! Learning what these abilities are is quite powerful.
It can also be tempting to try to be like another person for a variety of reasons. However there is no need to try to become someone else, you yes you have a powerful set of gifts that make you unique and an integral part of your community.

How to Lead with Your Strengths
There is no better example of using strengths to lead than Chancellor Donde Plowman of the University of Tennessee.
She uses her strengths to lead to a brighter future and to inspire positive change. Watch this interview where she talks about how she has owned her strengths and deployed them.
Engineers need to know their strengths:
As an engineer you will be much more successful and a better communicator if you know the language of strengths. It will allow you to understand how others think and how to appreciate their strengths when they are different from yours.
The best way to work with others is to always assume positive intent and that they may be approaching problems from a completely different perspective than you are.
I encourage you to discover your strengths today, own them proudly, and be the best engineer you can be. The future depends on you :)
