An Idea in Your Head to an Object in Your Hand
The Quick Guide to Making
Creativity is contagious. Pass it on.
We humans love making stuff. It is the natural expression of the ideas in our heads. Every person regardless of their education level, culture, age, or ethnicity has the capacity to generate incredible ideas and bring them into the world. Creativity is innate and part of what makes us human.
1. 💡 Think It
Our brains are powerful. The ideas we have are the product of the inputs we receive and the connections our brain makes between topics.
If you want to have more creative ideas, practical steps to get into a creative frame of mind, and the best place to store these ideas, then check out these three articles:
2. ✏️ Sketch It
Now that you have an idea you are excited about, pick up a pencil, and put it on paper.
The act of putting it on paper helps you explore your idea and see what works and what doesn’t. The sketch is for you and can be as messy or as detailed as you want. At this stage you are not shooting for perfection, you are just trying to understand every aspect of your idea and how it will work and look. Remember that perfect is the enemy of done.

3. 🖥️ CAD It
Now it is time to take your sketches and create a digital 3D model.
There are several great CAD (Computer Aided Design) softwares:
